The plane, which was bound for Singapore, crashed shortly after 9:00 pm (1930 IST) into a flooded rice field outside the capital, airport police chief Chhor Kimney told AFP.

"A cargo plane crashed shortly after take-off. It is in a rice field now," he said.

Police officials have arrived on the scene, but it was not clear whether there were any casualties among the crew, which was reported to number around five.

One police official who did not want to be named said two people, including a Russian pilot, were injured in the accident.

Another unnamed police official said the plane was carrying a cargo of garments.
