“Not condemning self-immolations but playing them up and inciting others to follow examples is challenging the common conscience and moral bottom line of human kind,” foreign ministry spokesperson Hong Lei told reporters.

Buddhist nun Qiu Xiang set herself on fire on Thursday, calling for religious freedom and the return of the Dalai Lama.
