says in a brief report on Thursday that four of the dead were killed in a landslide brought on by torrential rains. Details about the other deaths were not given and a forecaster reached by phone at the provincial weather bureau said the storm had cleared.
Koppu, the 15th typhoon to strike China this year, brought heavy rains to western China and northern parts of Southeast Asia and helped relieve drought conditions in parts of Guangdong.
