Rising food prices in China are not likely to cause inflation, agricultural minister Sun Zhengcai said at a news conference on Monday.

China's consumer prices fell 1.2 per cent in the year to August, but food prices bucked the overall negative trend, rising 0.5 per cent, and analysts expect the increases to gain pace in coming months.
