Deadly blast hits Damascus bus: reports

A massive blast ripped through a bus carrying Iranian pilgrims in the Syrian capital on Thursday, killing and wounding up to a dozen people, television stations reported.

A massive blast ripped through a bus carrying Iranian pilgrims in the Syrian capital on Thursday, killing and wounding up to a dozen people, television stations reported.

The explosion happened in the Sayyida Zeinab quarter of Damascus, which features a Shiite shrine frequented by Iranians, according to Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya television networks.

Iran's state television reporter in Damascus said the bus exploded while it was refuelling, about 500 metres (yards) from the shrine.
