An expedition to look for a Snowman or Yeti in the Mountain Shoria area (south of Kemerovo Region) is being planned for June 2009, expedition head and Kemerovo State University ethnographer Valery Kimeyev said on Tuesday.
Local residents say they saw a Snowman near Azasskaya Cave, located 500 kilometres from the regional administrative centre Kemerovo.
According to Tashtagol district head Vladimir Makuta, the local administration received 14 letters from residents of some Shoria villages, who had allegedly seen a Snowman near Azasskaya Cave as well as near Mrassu River.
The administration head said the scientific expedition will be sent to either confirm or refute these reports.
According to descriptions, these "beings" resemble a brown bear; foot fingers are clearly seen on snow and are 1.5-2 metres high. They are covered with red dark hair all over their bodies and can quickly climb trees.
