"There was a small fire in the main chancery building," embassy spokesman Richard Snelsire said.

"There is no information on any casualties or fatalities," he said.

He could not give the cause of the fire or details of any losses.

"It's too early to give details," he said adding that efforts were underway to bring it under control.
