First priority for Egypt government is security: PM

Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq said Sunday that his caretaker government's first priority is to restore peace, after 18 days of anti-regime protests that paralysed the country.

Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq said Sunday that his caretaker government's first priority is to restore peace, after 18 days of anti-regime protests that paralysed the country.

"The first priority for this government is to restore security and to facilitate daily life for its citizens," he told reporters after holding his first cabinet meeting since president Hosni Mubarak stepped down on Friday.
