More than 100 members of some Hindu and Jewish organisations held a demonstration near the White House, urging new US President Barack Obama to take strong steps against terrorism.

Demonstrators demanded that Pakistan be declared a terrorist state and Iran stopped from making nuclear weapons that threaten Israel. The banners called on the administration to protect the world from “radical” Islam.

Demonstrators said Obama must seize Saudi assets and recognise that Pakistan, a US ally, has hosted terrorists on its soil.
