Jayachandra Elaprolu was shot five times and was found dead when the police arrived. The incident took place in Pasadena county of California.

A woman who entered the store soon after the incident called the police. The police said they are now seeking at least two suspects in the shooting, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Ali Kahn, a manager at the store, said Elaprolu had been working at the store for less than a month. Elaprolu went to the US in July and was doing his Masters in computers.

A video of the CCTV footage obtained by the police showed a man in a ski mask entering the Conoco gas station at about 2.20am (local time), before shooting the clerk and taking away the cash register.

His family members said the body would be flown home in a couple of days. The Telugu Association of North America has promised to help the family in making the arrangements.
