In order to formulate an action plan concerning international cooperation in reducing the green house emissions following the end of the Kyoto Protocol by 2012, some 100 participants from 189 countries are expected to meet in Bali, Indonesia this year.
An international conference on climate change is scheduled to be held in Bali from December 3 to 14.
"They all agree that the climate change has no doubt become an important issue, like others, including human rights, as the problem will affect the world not only now but also in the future," Deputy Permanent Representative for the United Nations, Adiyatwidi Adiwoso said.
She said the Bali Conference was not expected to settle certain documents but merely a forum to make a start on the negotiations after the end of the Kyoto Protocol.
"Most of them (nations participating in the meeting) have not yet adequately addressed the climate change problem," she added.
Indonesia, would try to be a bridge in a bid to build mutual trust between the developed and developing countries in the process toward negotiations in the Bali Conference, she said.
"Some of the developing countries wonder why they should be responsible (for the climate change), while the developed countries are those that produce most of the green house emissions," she said.
Developing countries, she added, should also have interest in implementing the efforts aiming to reduce the green house emissions as the impact of the global warming caused by the emissions would spread across the world.
