2008
- January 14: A Taliban suicide attacker leaves eight dead at the Serena, Kabul's most luxurious hotel.
- July 7: A car bomb attack on the Indian embassy building kills more than 60 people.
2009
- February 11: At least 26 people die and 55 are wounded in three almost simultaneous Taliban attacks on official buildings.
- October 28: An attack claimed by the Taliban kills at least eight people, including five UN staff, at a Kabul hostel. Three attackers also die.
- December 15: At least eight die and 40 are wounded in a suicide attack near a hotel hosting foreigners.
2010
- January 18: Five people die and at least 71 are injured as Taliban guerrillas carry out a wave of coordinated bomb and gun attacks around the capital.
- February 26: Suicide attacks on two Kabul guesthouses kill at least 16 people, including seven Indians, a French national and an Italian.

- June 28: 21 are killed, including 10 civilians, when suicide bombers storm Kabul's luxury Intercontinental Hotel.
- August 19: Nine people, including a New Zealand special forces soldier, die when suicide bombers attack the British Council cultural centre in Kabul.
