US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called Afghan President Hamid Karzai's government on Monday to "root out corruption" and said Washington will hand it a set of measures to become accountable.

She said any commitment by the United States, Germany and other allies to stabilise Afghanistan "has to be met by an even greater commitment" of the new Karzai government "to begin the effort to root out corruption" and deliver services to the Afghan people.
"We are going to present to the government of Afghanistan, President Karzai, a clear set of expectations and of accountability measures," she said.
Clinton was in Berlin to join world leaders to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. She was speaking after talks with German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle.
