As more details emerged about the Wisconsin gurdwara slayer’s ‘neo-Nazi’ leanings, the FBI on Tuesday intensified its probe into his links to white supremacists to ascertain the motive that spurred the former soldier to unleash his hatred on Sikh worshippers.

Wade Michael Page’s neighbours said he rarely left his house where he lived alone, and never made eye contact.

Information surfacing about Page show him to be a committed supremacist who exhorted others to stop complaining and do something about it.

He described himself as a member of the “Hammerskins Nation”, a skinhead, said AP quoting the SITE Monitoring Service, a Maryland-based private intelligence firm.

Christopher Robillard, a man who in an interview to CNN called Page as his closest friend a decade ago, said Page lost his army job for showing up drunk repeatedly. He said Page was very kind and smart, but added that even then he was “involved with white supremacy”.

Flag at half-mast
US President Barack Obama has ordered the national flag to fly at half-mast for the next five days as a mark of respect to the victims, a move welcomed by the Sikh community.
