Another 18 were injured, nine of them seriously, in the incident that occurred on Thursday night in Kohistan on the Karakuram Highway, which connects Pakistan and China.

The bus was heading to Rawalpindi city near Islamabad from the border city of Gilgit.

Police said the bus fell into a ravine after hit by landslide at the Sazeen locality at 11:30 pm.

Dead bodies and injured were extracted from the bus after its roof was cut. The injured were shifted to hospitals in far away areas as there were no medical facilities at the nearby places of the accident site.

Two helicopters were also sent to the area to shift injured for treatment, Geo television reported.

Kohistan is among the areas hit by the October 8 earthquake, which has killed some 80,000 people.
