The Myanmar News Agency said on Wednesday the six perished when the landslide buried their house in a village near the town of Mogok Saturday.

Flooding, some from the overflow of rivers, also inundated other areas across the country last week but no deaths were reported. The affected areas included villages and rice fields in the Irrawaddy delta, which was devastated in a cyclone early May and is still recovering.

Several Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, Thailand and Laos, have been hit over the past two weeks with floods from heavy monsoon rains.
