However, this year, the highest bid is much less than last year's record $2.11 million.

The proceeds from the auction conducted every year on an online marketplace eBay would go for charity purposes.

Going by information available on eBay website, the highest bidder has offered to pay $1.68 million following the six-day auction which ended on June 26. The opening bid was $25,000.

The winner would get a chance to have lunch with Buffett in New York and can also bring up to seven friends along with him.

The auction proceeds would go to Glide Foundation, an institution that works to alleviate poverty in the San Francisco Bay Area.

According to reports, Hong Kong-based investor Zhao Danyang had paid $2.11 million for having lunch with the billionaire.
