A former aide of Pakistani military ruler Pervez Musharraf, who reportedly disappeared under mysterious circumstances in Punjab's provincial capital, has returned home, a senior police official said on Sunday.
Lt Col Manzoor Ahmad, who was the former President's staff officer and a former additional director of the Defence Housing Authority, reportedly went missing on Friday.
His wife contacted police after he failed to respond to calls on his three mobile phones.
Lahore police chief Aslam Tarin said that Ahmad had returned home after a brief visit to the border town of Kasur.
"Ahmad said he had gone to Kasur on his own and he has given us a written statement in this regard," Tarin said.
Tarin said that Ahmad's sudden trip to Kasur could be linked to a dispute over land with some parties and his alleged disappearance was not in any way linked to his tenure with Musharraf.
Ahmad, an officer of the Punjab Regiment, had retired two years ago. He was reportedly on his way to an office in the Defence Housing Authority when he purportedly went missing.
His wife claimed Ahmad had told his family and neighbours about being followed by a "suspicious car" in the recent past.
