The quake was felt in the country's capital, San Jose.

However, residents appeared to take it in stride and relatively few people exited buildings.

Costa Rica's Red Cross and the national emergency commission said there did not immediately to be any damages or injuries from the Good Friday quake, whose center was located south of San Jose.
