MQM chief Altaf Hussain, whose group is part of the ruling coalitions at the centre and in Sindh province in Pakistan, has criticised the country's foreign policy, saying it was ineffective compared to that of India.
In a telephonic address to an MQM workers' convention in Karachi, the London-based Hussain claimed that during foreign trips, Pakistani leaders and diplomats spent more time shopping than in meeting world leaders and diplomats.
In contrast, Indian leaders pleaded their case in a far more effective manner, he said.
Hussain also said that the war in Afghanistan was portrayed in Pakistan as a conflict between Islam and the evil. During the Afghan war, army generals and so-called religious forces pocketed plenty of money, he claimed.
After the war, the army did nothing to change the country's foreign policy, Hussain said.
He said the army and ISI should decide once and for all that Pakistan would make no compromises on its sovereignty and integrity and that US "dictations" would be ignored.
