The Spaniard will meet 12th-seeded Tomas Berdych in Sunday's final after the Czech upset Serbia's Novak Djokovic in straight sets earlier Friday.

The scoreline was not an accurate reflection of the evenness of the match as there were times in the third set when Murray had won more points in the match than Nadal despite being two sets down.

Nadal won the first set after breaking Murray in the ninth game, then saved a set point in the second-set tiebreaker. The 2008 champion sealed victory by breaking Murray on consecutive occasions in the eighth and tenth games of the third set.
