"Musharraf did not take the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif into confidence and launched the Kargil attack which brought embarrassment for the country," the document states.

Pakistan and India were involved in the Kargil conflict in 1999. Militants and Pakistani soldiers infiltrated into Indian territory. The Indian Army and Air Force later successfully recovered the occupied territory from them.

The charges include allegations like the killing of Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti in a military operation in 2006, the attack on Islamabad's Lal Masjid in 2007, abrogating the constitution twice and imposition of emergency.

The PML-N also raised the demand to bring back the former military ruler to Pakistan with Interpol's help to stand trial.

Musharraf is living in exile in Britain for the last couple of years since resigning from presidency in 2008. He launched his own political party -- the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), and is harbouring hopes of another stint in power through the political route.
