Nepali Congress on Wednesday took exception to fraternal links between the Maoists and what it described as international terrorist groups like RIM and COMPOSA, saying it was against the spirit of peace process.
The group like Revolutionary International Movement (RIM) and Coordination Committee of Maoist Parties and Organisations of South Asia (COMPOSA) are banned outfits internationally and having affiliation with these groups are banned in their mother countries, senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Sharan Mahat said.
The NC leader was commenting on claims made by Maoists’ deputy leader in the Parliament Narayan Kaji Shrestha ‘Prakash´ that his party has fraternal relations with the international Maoist groups such as RIM and COMPOSA.
Prakash, however, said, “we only have ideological proximity and political consultative relations with these organisations. But we don’t have any physical cooperation or working relations with these organisations.”
But, Mahat said the Maoists cannot fool the world by saying that they have only ideological relations with these violent groups.
“To become the members of such groups is against the spirit of the peace process. The Maoists are still the member of these organization which believe in violence,” he said.
