Finally there may be peace in the troubled Himalayan state. After days of unrest, the Nepal government on Thursday signed an agreement with the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) to bring an end to the protracted Terai imbroglio.

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala signed the agreement with the UDMF leaders on Thursday.
It was decided that while establishing Nepal as a federal democratic republic, Madhesh and few other parts of the country would be recognised as autonomous regions. The decision would subsequently be ratified by the Constituent Assembly. The agreement has been a shot-in-the-arm for Koirala as the three Madheshi parties also have now agreed to take part in the Constituent Assembly election scheduled for April 10.
All the senior leaders of the ruling Seven Party Alliance (SPA), including Maoist chief Prachanda, were present.
