North Korea ignored a "strong warning" from China against staging its suspected nuclear weapon test, a UN Security Council diplomat said late Monday.
The 15-nation council was expected to meet on Tuesday morning in New York to discuss the test blast, with heightened pressure to take action against the Pyongyang government after it rejected appeals by all the major powers.
