Obama leading US down 'road to Greece': Romney

Republican challenger Mitt Romney accused President Barack Obama on Tuesday of leading the United States down the "road to Greece" with economic policies that would drive the national debt up to $20 trillion.

Republican challenger Mitt Romney accused President Barack Obama on Tuesday of leading the United States down the "road to Greece" with economic policies that would drive the national debt up to $20 trillion.

"We have four consecutive years when he said when he was running for office that he would cut the deficit in half -- instead he's doubled it," Romney charged in a crucial debate three weeks from election day.

"We've gone from $10 trillion of national debt to $16 trillion of national debt. If the president were re-elected, we'd go to almost $20 trillion of national debt. This puts us on a road to Greece."

President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are facing each other during the second presidential debate.
