Pakistan has brushed aside Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's comments asking it to prevent terrorist attacks like the Mumbai incident, saying India should respond positively to its proposals for pragmatic engagement to counter terrorism.
Responding to Singh's statements made during a speech in India, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said: "The Prime Minister of India is entitled to his views."
Referring to Singh's remarks "asking Pakistan to ensure against attacks like Mumbai and the (bombing of the) Indian embassy in Kabul, as well as to measure up to its words by actions", Gilani said India should respond to its proposals to counter terrorism.
"However, instead of placing the onus for India's security on Pakistan, we expect the Indian government to respond positively to our proposals for pragmatic and constructive engagement on countering terrorism," he said on Saturday.
"We have on our own initiated a series of actions. These have been shared with India through diplomatic channels," he added.
Islamabad has called for a joint probe into the Mumbai attacks, which New Delhi has blamed on Pakistan-based elements, including the Lashker-e-Taiba terror group.
