Riots broke out in the military cantonment town of Jhelum in Pakistan when a mob attacked an Ahmadi mosque and earlier a chipboard factory and burnt it to the ground on suspicion that one of the workers inside, belonging to the Ahmadiyya community, had committed blasphemy.
The Ahmadiyya community, an offshoot of Islam, remains under attack in Pakistan over its beliefs its followers continue to remain under threat.
On Saturday, an Ahmadi place of worship was attacked by a mob one day after another group of people had burnt down a factory owned by members of the Ahmadiyya community in the same area after one of its employees was accused of committing blasphemy.
Hundreds of people surrounded a chipboard factory and set the facility ablaze after reports surfaced that one employee had allegedly desecrated the Holy Quran. Police claimed to have arrested a member of the Ahmadiyya community on Friday night.
An FIR was registered against the accused under blasphemy charges after locals accused him of burning pages of the Quran.
