Chief Justice of Pakistan Abdul Hameed Dogar administered oath to the deposed judges Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani and Justice Syed Jamshed Aliin at the Ceremonial Hall of the Supreme Court in Islamabad.

The judges, sacked Nov 3 last year by the then president Pervez Musharraf, would return to their offices with immediate effect, according to APP.

Law minister Farooq H Naek said that more deposed judges were willing to take fresh oath of office.

Private TV channel Ary One World quoted Naek as saying that other deposed judges should take oath in a week. They will get retired if they fail to do so, he said.

Some 60 judges were sacked Nov 3 last year when Musharraf declared a state of emergency. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and its former coalition partner Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) promised in March that the judges would be restored.

The News daily reported Friday that the PPP had decided in principle not to restore former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
