Pakistan says Karzai visit delayed by snow

A visit by Afghan President Hamid Karzai to Islamabad, scheduled for Thursday, was postponed due to heavy snowfall in Kabul, Pakistan's foreign ministry said.

A visit by Afghan President Hamid Karzai to Islamabad, scheduled for Thursday, was postponed due to heavy snowfall in Kabul, Pakistan's foreign ministry said.

"A new date will be announced later," ministry spokesman Abdul Basit told AFP. Another foreign ministry official also confirmed the delay.

Karzai had been scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in Islamabad on Thursday.

Afghan Foreign Minister Rangeen Dadfar Spanta said Wednesday that talks would focus on efforts to quell mounting Islamic extremism in both countries as well as on a US policy review of the "war on terror".
