French PM Francois Fillon inaugurated the show at Le Bourget, about 40 km from Paris, two weeks after the still-unexplained crash of an Air France Airbus 330 over the Atlantic killed all 228 people onboard.

Braving rain, aviation industry executives from across the world watched a dazzling display of jets flying in overcast conditions.

Over 2,000 exhibitors from 48 countries have assembled to showcase their wares.
