Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to exhort the global community for a concerted fight against terrorism at the G20 summit starting at this coastal resort on Sunday against the backdrop of the bloodiest attack on France since World War II.
Although the G20 – a forum of the world’s top 20 economies – usually focuses on economic issues, this year’s summit is likely to be dominated by insecurity in the Middle East and global security following the Paris attacks which left 129 people dead.

“There is nothing such as good terrorism or bad terrorism…Terror attacks in any form are totally unacceptable and there has to be concerted fight by the global community and each country. India, which has been the strongest voice at various global platforms for the fight against terrorism, will once again talk on those lines,” a source in the Indian delegation said.
Besides terrorism, Modi, who is the lead speaker at the opening session, will also put across India’s views on climate change and development strategies as other key issues.

{{/usCountry}}“India will bat for a fair and equitable climate agreement (and) at the same time it will also draw attention to the concerns as well as the need for development without any compromise,” said Shaktikanta Das, secretary of department of economic affairs at the finance ministry who is leading the economic delegation of India.

Talking to HT, Das said that development and climate issues are being dealt quite seriously by India at the summit, especially ahead of the global climate change summit scheduled later this month on Paris.
