Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday disclosed to the media that security forces had arrested two would-be suicide bombers in the Islamabad, adding that the attackers were planning to target the parliament house and a mosque in the city.
Talking to journalists in parliament, Malik said that the arrests came after a tip-off from intelligence agencies. He did not say which militant organisation the two men belonged to.
The interior minister also said that a third man was to join the other two and a manhunt had been launched to arrest him. Malik said one of the men came from Bannu and intended to carry out a suicide attack on a mosque in F8-1, a locality in the middle of the capital.
The second man wanted to attack the parliament, surrounding buildings in the heavily fortified government enclave and "important personalities," Malik said.
