PM calls China 'greatest neighbour'

Manmohan holds a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao, on the sidelines of the G8 Summit.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday called China India's "greatest neighbour" and said the 10-point programme devised with Beijing had given new substance and meaning to Sino-India cooperative ties.

The prime minister held a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao, on the sidelines of the G8 Outreach summit where the two leaders agreed to resolve all pending issues amicably.

Manmohan Singh mentioned that all political parties regardless of affiliations wanted good relations with India's "greatest neighbour" China.

Hu also recollected his visit to India in November 2006 and said he was touched by the warm hospitality extended to him.
