Powerful quake hits off Pacific Islands

The quake struck at 2315 IST, 138 kilometres east of Tadine in the Loyalty Islands at a depth of four kilometres, the US Geological Survey said.

A powerful 6.1-magnitude quake struck on Saturday in the Pacific Ocean near a group of islands that form part of the French territory of New Caledonia, seismologists said.
