The man flew from Washington to Jeddah and then on to Dammam in the Eastern Province on Sunday, the ministry said, according to a report by the official SPA news agency.

Hw was identified as a suspected victim by airport thermal detection equipment in Jeddah but he nevertheless was able to continue travelling to Dammam, they said.

Authorities are seeking to contact passengers on both of the flights to ensure others were not infected.

It was the country's second case of infection by the A(H1N1) virus. The first was reported last Wednesday, a Filipina nurse who tested positive several days after returning to Saudi Arabia from holiday.
