Sharon's vital signs stable: Doctor

Condition still critical, kept in emergency unit for observation.

Surgeons finally stopped the bleeding in Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's brain after a lengthy operation. His vital signs are stable, but his condition is still critical, a hospital spokesman said.

"The prime minister had a CT scan that showed that the bleeding has stopped," Shlomo Mor-Yosef of Hadassah Hospital told reporters. "He was then put in the neurological emergency unit for observation. All vital signs are functional and stable. The prime minister is in critical condition," he added.
