India and China have seen a high degree of collaboration in recent multilateral fora like the BRICS, the Group of 20 and the Rio+20 Summit, said foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai.
"The two more than cooperated, they actually worked together at these summits," he said, speaking just after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Chinese Premier Wen Jiaobao met on the Rio+20 summit sidelines.
On the bilateral side, he said, the two reviewed the border situation between both countries. They agreed the two countries’ special representatives would prepare a joint record of their positions by April, as scheduled. They also upheld the first meeting of the joint border mechanism and the planned defence and security dialogue, said Mathai.
Singh invited China to invest in India’s infrastructure. The two agreed that the target of reaching $100 billion in bilateral trade was on track. “Indian rice exports to China will soon commence,” added Mathai.

{{/usCountry}}The foreign secretary stressed that it was not expected that the two countries would agree on everything, but that they disagreed on certain things also did not mean the two could not have dialogue and come to agreements.
Mathai also noted that the bilateral maritime dialogue would soon be launched.
