Station House Officer Riazul Islam and his bodyguard were on their way to the police station at Faqirabad this morning when their car was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb planted in an electric pylon on Charsadda Road.

Islam, his bodyguard and a young girl who was passing by were injured in the attack. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors said they were out of danger.

The police officer's car and an electric transformer were damaged by the blast, the latest in a series of suicide attacks and bombings that has rocked Peshawar and claimed hundreds of lives.

Police officials said two kilograms of explosives were used in the attack. Police cordoned off the site of the blast and launched a search for those responsible for the attack.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
