It has been a week since Nepal was hit by the worst earthquake in 80 years and it has killed thousands of people, destroyed hundreds of buildings and devastated its capital Kathmandu.

The extent of the damage brought about by the quake emerged slowly as eyewitness accounts started to trickle in through social media and news wires.

The world has now seen and felt the enormity of the tragedy as the death toll on Saturday crossed 6,700 and Nepal announced that the possibility of finding more survivors is slim.
