Police identified the dead as Rena Salve, pilot of one of the Cessna aircraft, Warsha Gopinath and Patrick Philip Teruel who were on board another aircraft. Another unidentified passenger was also injured.

The two Cessna light planes took off from the Plaridel airport, where student pilots are trained, and collided over rice fields above Ligas village in Malolos.

Police are still investigating the accident, but local radio Dzbb said the initial investigations reveal that the planes were engaged in a mid air race.
