The tankers caught fire when motorcycle-borne gunmen started firing at the vehicles near Mithri in Bolan district, Daily Times reported.

The vehicles were on their way from Karachi to Kandahar, and were carrying fuel for Nato forces in Afghanistan.

The assailants managed to escape.
