Ever wondered what lightning looks like from space?
Thanks to British astronaut Tim Peake, you can now get a glimpse.
On Tuesday, he tweeted time-lapse footage of a raging storm as seen from the International Space Station (ISS) and captioned it - ‘Amazing how much lightning can strike our planet in a short time.’
The footage offers an incredible view of the flashy, fast-paced lights as they strike the Earth. At the moment, Peake was flying over Turkey while moving from North Africa towards Russia.
The ISS completes an orbit of Earth every 92 minutes at a speed of 27,600 kilometres per hour.
Peake also tweeted another mesmerising time-lapse on Wednesday of a small aurora light display that shows ‘how thin our atmosphere is.’
Last month, Peake became the first astronaut representing Britain to walk in space while he stepped out of the ISS to fix a crucial electrical unit.
