An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan has issued an arrest warrant for former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf in the Benazir Bhutto assassination case.
A detailed chargesheet presented in the Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court on Friday named the former president as well as Tehreek-e-Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud as those directly involved in the murder of the former prime minister.
The chargesheet says there was a planned conspiracy behind Bhutto's assassination, adding that Musharraf provided Mehsud with the opportunity to carry out suicide attacks on Bhutto.
The warrant has been issued to secure Musharraf's presence in court. He is in exile in the UK and frequently travels to the UAE to consult with his party workers.
The latest investigation report also came down hard on Musharraf.
The report says: "Musharraf was equally responsible for facilitation and abetment of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto through his government and failure in providing her the requisite security protection that her status demanded twice. There was a security lapse."
The fresh report is likely to be submitted to the Interior Minister by the end of this week.
Earlier, Bhutto's blackberry was taken into custody by intelligence agencies. It was revealed that Musharraf had at the time told Bhutto that her personal safety would depend on relations between her and himself.
