One would guess you’d be happy if one of your videos somehow makes its way to the week’s top 10 on YouTube. Two, and you’d be overjoyed. Michael Buckley, a comedian who satirises American celebrity culture, broke all records last week when four of his shows ended up on the week’s 10 top-rated videos.

Buckley hosts an online video show on YouTube called “What the Buck?!” that has garnered nearly 60,000 subscribers, and several million viewers each month. What Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are to the political satire genre on Comedy Central, Buckley is to celebs on YouTube. He insults them, he parodies them and he makes up funny incidents (he once warned American Idol and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson that singer Beyonce is going to kill her).

In just five months since his show debuted on YouTube, the self-confessed gay comedian who “stays in Connecticut with his husband and four dogs” is the second most popular comedian on YouTube, and at the rate at which his subscribers are growing, Buckley may become No 1 pretty soon. Like several comedy shows on US television, Buckley mainly relies on the hottest news topics of the week for his scripts.

About his 60,000 subscribers, Buckley thinks, “it’s sick… I love it.” Take a look why his viewers love him too on youtube.com/user/whatthebuckshow.
