Farida Jalal confirms she is healthy as fake news of death spreads on social media
Veteran Bollywood actor Farida Jalal has dismissed rumours of her death that spread on social media on Sunday. The 67-year-old actor, who’s starred in films like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with Shah Rukh Khan, has said that she is “hale and hearty”.
The news of Farida Jalal’s death has been greatly exaggerated. On Sunday, a deluge of messages began appearing on Twitter offering condolences to the 67-year-old star’s family.
Her Wikipedia page was also updated to reflect her passing.
When DNA contacted her, the actor said, “I am hale and hearty.” She further added, “I don’t know from where these baseless rumours are coming from. Initially I laughed, but from last 30 mins my phone have been constantly ringing and everybody is asking the same question. It’s a bit irritating, I wonder why people spread such rumours.”
Similar ‘fake news’ about the deaths of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar and Dilip Kumar was recently shared on social media sites.
