And as you join in the celebrations, you can also relish the choicest of food items on offer and take home some mementoes of local crafts too.

Starting November 29, the Apni Basti Mela at Nizamuddin Basti will showcase all this and much more.

Though an annual affair, it is much bigger this time and us looked at as an opportunity to celebrate seven centuries of a vibrant cultural legacy through heritage walks, conservation and craft demonstrations by craftsman, craft display and sale, music, theatre, Dastangoi performances, food and even cooking classes by master chefs.

Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna will flag off the heritage walk led by Basti youth on November 29. The Niazi brothers will recite Sufiana Kalaam on November 30 and Dastangoi by Mahmood Farooqui and Danish Husain on December 1, both at Chausath Khamba.

The event is part of the urban renewal project of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture at Humayun's Tomb, Sundar Nursery and Nizamuddin Basti in partnership with the Archaeological Survey of India and Basti residents.
