The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which is aiming to expand its footprint in the country, has set about to reach out to the youth in particular by distributing with a collection of books on various issues the organisation espouses, the icons it wants to promote and ancient Indian texts.
On Sunday, nearly 5000 swayamsevaks will traverse across the city with 32,000 copies of various books that have selected for this purpose. These include an introduction to the RSS ideology and ideologues, icons such as BR Ambedkar and the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.
RSS functionaries said a thousand odd spots have been identified in various parts of Delhi where these books will be available at affordable prices.
“To develop reading habits and popularise literature, which helps in promoting nationalism and moral values, the Delhi Prant of the RSS is organising the ‘Sahitya Prasar Divas’ on Sunday,” a statement from the Sangh read.
Book stalls will be put up at and around various educational institutions and public places. A few swayamsevaks will also undertake a door- to-door contact programme to introduce people to the Sangh ideology through literature.
