Sex video of BJP MLA goes viral in Assam, lawmaker dismisses involvement

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam has been left red-faced after a video purportedly showing one of its legislators in a sexual act went viral on social media on Saturday.
While the party chose not to react, the MLA – Ramakanta Deuri representing the Morigaon assembly seat – said he was not the man showed in the video in a compromising position with a woman in a hotel.
“This is a conspiracy hatched by my adversaries since my name has been doing the rounds for a berth in the ministry scheduled to be expanded soon,” Deuri told local TV channels.
He said he would resign from the assembly and leave politics if forensic test establishes he features in the video.
The video has gone viral in the constituency, about 80km east of Guwahati.
