A crocodile was captured by forest officials on Friday after it entered a residential area in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad.

The crocodile will be released in River Chamba in the National Chambal Sanctuary, an official said.

The incident comes after photographs of a crocodile on the Morjim beach in Goa had gone viral last year. Crocodiles are commonly found in the hinterland in marshy rivers, but there have rarely been instances of the aquatic reptiles sighted on the state’s beaches, which are visited by at least three million tourists annually.
